“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.” – The Dalai Lama
These are powerful words. When it comes down to it, compassion and being selfless leads to happiness.
Now some or maybe even many of us may feel that, if we give too much, our generosity, will be taken advantage of by others.
I believe these are the few and far between, the minority. We just remember them more. I’m sure it would be easy if I asked you: “Tell me a time when someone took advantage of your generosity?”
I can think of one time already. Pretty easy, huh?
You Are the Change
Most of us know the the famous quote by Ghandi quote: “We must be the change, we wish to see in the world.”
Change has to start somewhere, right? So why not you and why not now?
The universe knows all. When you give randomly without seeking reward or even anonymously, then just know: THIS IS GOOD FOR YOU!
Every time you give, you will receive… Even if you aren’t looking for a reward.
Try it, and you will see the law of cause and effect. Always remember, for every action there is a reaction. Let’s make sure the reactions to our actions are good ones.
Lastly, an act of kindness doesn’t cost anything. Here are some ideas:
- kind words
- a note or card
- a phone call to someone you know is going through a tough time
- being polite to anyone who performs services for you
Establish sincerity and trust where ever you go, and it will be returned to you in ways you couldn’t imagine. It’s really that simple.
