Your 2016 Book Starts Today
My good friend and business associate Amber Bonilla left a great picture on Facebook New Year’s Eve. Here it is:
As soon as I saw it, I shared it on my Facebook page. It really connected with me because it is so darn true.
The slate is clean for a new year to make things happen. We have 365 days to become better marketers and build our individual businesses.
Will You Take Advantage?
Every day is an opportunity to lay down another brick and build. I talk to quite a few people on my team who want to have success at lightning speed. They want to see results in 30 days. But what kind of results? Sales, recruits?
Don’t let the results of how many signups you are getting get in the way of learning and mastering your craft as a businessperson.
Improve in all areas of your business.
Brush up on personal development with a good book. Join a free webinar offering training on something you can improve on. Talk to your current team members and check in with them. They would probably love to hear from you.
There are many areas to improve in.
Slow Down and Become a Good Sponsor
One thing I see a lot in this industry is new marketers blasting their ads all over the place, getting a ton of leads and even getting sign ups.
Now that’s a good thing for sure. But what I see after a sign up, is the sponsor disappearing and off to his or her next ad to try and get more signups.
One thing I suggest when a new marketer starts getting a bunch of signups at once is to turn off your marketing for a day or two just to regroup and connect with the current team you are building.
Having early success as a newbie can be quite overwhelming and can get out of control.
The Time I Lost Control of My Team
A few years ago, I had set up a creative sales funnel for the company I was in. I tested it all out with a combination of Facebook marketing and solo ads.
When the leads started coming in and signing up, I was so excited that I went and posted twice as many ads and bought a bigger solo ad.
What a mistake that was!
Yes, I got even more signups but I lost control of everyone really fast. Next thing you know, I had a lot of drop outs in month two.
My failure was to connect with new members, find out their goals, help them along the way.
This is a Marathon Not a Sprint
When you are working from home and building a residual income, it’s not a race. Slow it down and find the right balance of pace so you can market daily, connect with your team, train for new skills and also, take time for yourself and your family.
Don’t let this industry consume you so much that you feel like you need to sprint to reach your goals. Choose a brisk pace and stay connected daily to your business and you will be on your way.
When you have the marathon mindset, you will notice the spreading out of tasks so you can become a better marketer and be effective going forward.
I wish you best of luck in 2016 and I hope you can write the most amazing 365-day book ever.
